Tiger Woods recently checked into sex rehab as the result of exposed extramarital affairs (emphasis on plural). Tiger has disappeared and hopes to treat his sexual addiction with ongoing and intense therapy. Tiger’s extra-marital affairs were not as much one-night encounters as much as continuing relationships developed over time, leading some to experts believe Tiger’s sex rehab treatment is nothing more than a publicity stunt.
Celebrities are a wealth of blogging and marketing dos and don’ts. Tiger’s rash action to treat his “sexual addiction” is one more example of what is beneficial on the PR front, but not the best move on the sincerity front. Applying this to the world of blogging, Tiger has a chance to take his real life struggles and own them, learn from them and move on from them. Instead, Tiger is choosing to place a veil over the incident in the hopes of saving face. Be yourself dammit!
If you make a mistake in your blog, offend someone or give erroneous information, own it! Learn from it, because you and your readers will be better off for it. And if your entire income is based on wholesome endorsements, leave the trashy blondes alone.
