I love the smell of fall in the air. The crispness of the breeze, the warmth of the colors of changing leaves, and the anticipation of all my favorite fall television shows coming back for another round!
Sons of Anarchy, Dexter, Grey’s Anatomy, oh my!
I’m so excited for fall because even though the leaves are falling and the world is getting ready to hibernate, there’s an innate sense of renewal throughout the atmosphere. School is back in session, sweaters are being pulled out from the back of the closet, and the babe started day care, so I’m back to being a focused writer once again.
Being a mama really threw my work ethic for a loop. Of course, nothing comes before my son. Before I had a baby, nothing came before my work. I would write tirelessly until the job was done, hustling for new business and cheapening my services for fear of having no work.
Now that my family and I are establishing our own schedule, I’m returning to a sense of normalcy where I can better focus on writing. This new sense of renewal is timely for the season, as students prepare to return to their role as learners, and my favorite networks stop showing crappy game shows and starting bringing the drama!
Here’s to the sense of renewal fall brings, to bettering the balance between wife, mother, and writer, and to looking forward to more Sons of Anarchy scenes where Jax takes his shirt off (am I right?).
